THE Day

We are leaving today after so much planning and anticipation. So hard to believe! Going to the boat in Lexington (just north of Port Huron) and then head out across Lake Huron early tomorrow. Forecast is good. Very exciting.

Lexington

Getting the final details taken care of before the blastoff 2 weeks from today. Borrowed a little Tom Hanks and created  new crew member on the back of my depth sounder. Him? Her? Name?

Memorial Day weekend, my good buddy John Hoard helped me work on the boat in St. Clair. I tip my hat to him. Then we headed up the St. Clair River to go into Lake Huron and up to Lexington. Engine troubles caused us to stop in Port Huron for repairs. Diesel fuel can actually grow bacteria and fungus and the tank was just full of black "crud". Our unscheduled stop turned out to be a fun little adventure and a free slip for a week! Today, Big Mike Hendrie and I left Port Huron, fought the current in the St. Clair River going under the Blue Water Bridge and got into Lake Huron. Mike's experience was most helpful. We then had a leisurely sail up to Lexington, which I think is a super, quaint, little town with a pleasant marina. In less than three weeks, we head out for Canada across Lake Huron.

The boat got wet today! We are planning to go 30-38 miles north from St. Clair to Lexington or Port Sanilac on Memorial Day weekend. We will do some trial runs and provision from there. Heading out across Lake Huron to Goderich June 24th(as always, weather permitting).
