A photo journal of a rookie sailor's trip from Lake Erie to Lake Huron, up and over the Bruce Peninsula, down and around the bottom of Georgian Bay and up the east coast to Killarney and through Little Current into the North Channel and on to Big Mac. Trip of a lifetime!
Mark Twain said, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
That’s what I am planning to do this summer in my 1986 28” Pearson sailboat, ALUVA.
In 2006, I sailed on a big sailboat in
In September, Ross, and my great friend John Hoard, and I sailed the boat across NW Erie, up the

One could spend a lifetime in GB and the NC and never have the same anchorage twice. I hope to do a I week loop in the northern NC and see the Benjamin Islands, Bell Cove, Amendroz Is., Great La Cloche Is., Clapperton Is., Baie Fine, and the Whalesback Channel then return to Little Current.

AMBITIOUS! You bet! It may never happen but I am trying to make it a reality.

Wow...what a sunrise. Your photos are just unbelievable. I feel as though i am experiencing just a wee bit of the trip with you. Marcia and I just returned to the cottage from 3 days up in the Les Cheneux islands, eastern UP. Stayed with friends in a cottage in Hessel and explored some of the channels in their boston whaler. Absolutely stunning. I know we will be going back. Nice that Ross could spend so much time and then hand the baton to Stan. Take care pal.
ReplyDeleteI agree with other comments - beautifully done. And I really appreciate the map/explanation of the route. Ross (my brother) put me in touch with your notes. Amazing - can't wait to share with our mother. The video of sailing makes you feel you are on board!
